On the 17th of April, the Colt athletes of the NMMI track and field team accepted the challenge of a hard track meet against eleven other notable teams at the Clovis Wildcat Relays, held in Clovis NM. The Boys Colt track and field team was able to accomplish a tie of 16 points for 10th place with Carlsbad High School. Unfortunately for the Lady Colts, the competition was hard, and they wound up placing last with only three points. While the boys and girls teams may not have stolen first place, there were a few individual athletes who were able to qualify for state, giving them a chance for redemption!
In the boy’s high jump, Sawyer Hull got first place, and qualified for state with a height of (6-05). Right behind Sawyer, in fifth place was Warren Spaniel with a state qualifying height of (6-00).
In pole vault, Luke Tomasits cleared the bar with an astounding height of (10-06), this not only qualified Luke for state, but it also put him in fourth place out of eleven other male vaulters.
In the long jump pit, Cohen Tomasits tied for eighth place with a distance of (20-02). This jump qualified Cohen to compete at state.

The boys Colt team was out there to qualify. The boys Colt team qualified for state in the 1600m Medley relay with a time of (3:49.25). The relay team members were Miguel Garcia, Cohen Tomasits, Cale Taylor, and Jose Arenal.
