The Colt Varsity Soccer team fell 4-1 Saturday to visiting Hatch Valley on Homecoming Saturday on the NMMI campus.

The Colts needed a sizable victory to force a tie-breaker atop the standings and win the district. They started strong with an early goal, but the Bears answered within a minute and went on to score thrice more.

On Sunday, the New Mexico Activities Association awarded NMMI the 7-seed for the state tournament. The Colts will travel to Hatch to face the No. 2 Bears for a third time this season. The first matchup back on Oct. 4 in Hatch resulted in a 2-0 loss for NMMI.

The Colts play the Bears in Hatch on Friday at 4 p.m.
