On Sunday afternoon, New Mexico Military improved to 6-12 in conference play with a 4-0 win in game one and a 7-4 win in game two over Clarendon College at the NMMI Ballpark. With the two wins, the Broncos improved to 18-18 on the year while Clarendon College fell to 6-29 on the season.

GAME 1

After a scoreless pair of innings to open the game, the Broncos landed the first blow in the top of the third inning. Joek Rivera Colon opened the inning by picking up his 41st hit of the season with a leadoff double. Seojun Oh followed it up with another double, helping Rivera Colon cross home plate. In the next at bat, Misael Maldonado Baez tallied his 11th double of the year and his 27 RBI to give the Broncos a 2-0 lead.

An out later, Yahir Fonseca Ortiz lined out to center field but not before helping NMMI score another run to take a 3-0 lead midway through three innings. The Bronco defense was able to hold Clarendon scoreless to close out the game.

In the fifth inning, the Broncos used back-to-back singles from Jose Rodriguez Mestre and Wonjae Cho to get a runner in scoring position. Rodriguez Mestre was able to cross home with the help of a passed ball. Earning his fourth win of the season, Hyunwook Lee completed 4.1 innings of work striking out four batters in the 4-0 shutout win.

Misael Maldonado Baez hit 2-for-4 while picking up an RBI and scoring a run in game one. Seojun Oh hit 1-for-2 while picking up an RBI and was walked twice in game one.

GAME 2

Continuing their momentum from game one, NMMI wasted no time getting on the board in game two. After the first two hitters got on base with a double and a single, Seung Min Shin blasted the four pitch of the at bat off the scoreboard to give the Broncos a quick 3-0 lead.

After four scoreless innings, NMMI used the top of the sixth inning to create some separation. After an error, walk and hit by pitch, the Broncos loaded the bags. NMMI scored their fourth run with an error as Jose Rodriguez Mestre reached base. Wonjae Cho tallied his 25th and 26th RBI of the season with a single to score a pair of runners and give NMMI a 6-0 advantage.

Clarendon was able to score a run in the bottom of the sixth inning, with the help of a pair of walks and a hit by pitch to advance the runners on base to make it a 6-1 game. In the top of the seventh, the Broncos responded with a run of their own as Rivera Colon reached home on an eroded throw by the catcher at third base.

In the final half inning, the Bulldogs were able to score a trio of runs but it wasn't enough as the Broncos completed the 7-4 win in game two.

The Broncos finish the four-game series against Clarendon College Monday, April 7, with first pitch of the doubleheader scheduled for noon at the NMMI Ballpark.
