GAME 1
After a scoreless first inning, Odessa College used the top half of the next three innings to add a run in every frame as they held a 3-0 lead midway through four innings. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Joek Rivera Colon opened the inning with a single. An out later, Misael Maldonado Baez tallied an RBI as he picked up a single and helped score the first run for the Broncos. Wonjae Cho grounded out in the next at bat, but not before scoring another run as the Broncos trailed 3-2.
In the top of the sixth inning, the Wranglers were able to score a pair of runs after being aided by a couple of hit by pitchers to get runners on base to make it a 6-2 ball game. Again in the away half of the seventh inning, Odessa added to their lead with a pair of runs to take a commanding 8-2 lead.
In the bottom of the seventh inning the Broncos were able to score a trio of runs off the bat of Yahir Fonseca Ortiz who tallied his fourth homer of the year and make it an 8-5 ball game but the comeback fell short as the Broncos struck out swinging.
GAME 2
The Broncos wasted no time getting on the board first as Misael Maldonado Baez homered to left field off the third pitch he saw to give NMMI a quick 1-0 lead. However, the Wranglers would respond with a homer of their own in the second inning to knot the game at 1-1. In the top of the fourth inning, Nathaniel Mendoza homered to center field to give Odessa a 2-1 advantage.
After a pair of scoreless innings, NMMI used the bottom of the sixth inning to retake the lead. After a walk and an error landed runners on base, Seung Min Shin earned his second homer of the season, this time a three-run blast as he gave the Broncos a 4-2 lead. In the top of the eighth inning Odessa was able to score a pair of runs and tie the game at 4-4.
After a scoreless ninth inning, Odessa was able to secure the win as they scored five runs in extra innings with the help of a two-RBI home run by Diego Alfonso-Rivera to take a 9-4 lead heading into the bottom of the 10th inning.
Seung Min Shin finished game two with a hit and three RBIs to lead the way for the Broncos. Getting the start on the mound, Jiyeong Park allowed just three runs in 7.1 innings of work while striking out nine batters in the process.
NMMI will be back in action tomorrow afternoon as the Broncos close out the series against Odessa College at the NMMI Ballpark, with first pitch scheduled for noon.
