In their first game in Cahoon Armory in more than two weeks, the Broncos struggled in the first half against the lengthy Thunderbirds and couldn't catch up despite a strong second half Thursday.

Sophomore guard Jonathan Burroughs led the Broncos with 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field, including 2-for-2 from behind the arc.

Freshman guard Mazin Lumori had eight points before going down with an apparent ankle injury in the final minute of the game. His status is uncertain moving forward.

NMMI went up 9-5 early, but lost the lead for good midway through the first half. The Broncos were outrebounded 41-32 and turned the ball over 20 times to NMJC's nine.

But the Broncos played a much better second half, shooting 44 percent from the field, 40 percent from deep and 75 percent from the charity stripe as they outscored the T-Birds 30-28.

NMJC had two players score double figures and sophomore Jeremiah Cherry, a 6-foot-11 UNLV commit, had nine points on 4-of-6 shooting with a couple emphatic dunks.

The Broncos are back on the Cahoon hardwood Monday night at 6:30 for a conference tilt with the Western Texas College Westerners from Snyder, Texas.
