The Broncos didn't get their typical offensive output Friday against visiting Western Texas College, while the Westerners' bats stayed busy, scattering hits across the NMMI Ballpark and sending seven long balls over the outfield wall as the Institute dropped both contests to start the four-gamer.

Only the three Bronco starting outfielders managed multiple hits across both games, with sophomore leftfielder Bernie Socarras going 4-for-6 with a triple, two runs scored, a walk and two strikeouts.

Freshman rightfielder Jun Ho Son had three hits, all in the first game, while driving in two runs and scoring another. Sophomore centerfielder Adonis Bernal had two hits in Game 2 and scored three runs with no strikeouts.

Sophomore right-hander Julio Ramos got the start in the opening game, giving up six runs off seven hits with three BBs and 7 Ks. He was relieved in the fourth inning by freshman lefty Davian Molina, who allowed three runs off of one hit and four walks.

Sophomore right-hander Adolfo Rondon made his fourth appearance of the season, handling the final five outs, allowing no runs off two hits with a strikeout.

Paul Ruiz, a sophomore right-hander, started Game 2 and allowed four runs off four hits and four walks before being relived by sophomore righty Yuki Shigeyasu, who pitched through the seventh inning, giving up seven earned off 10 hits with two Ks.

Freshman lefty Julian Sullivan pitched the eighth, giving up three runs off one hit and three walks.

The losses drop the Broncos one spot in the WJCAC standings to fourth place, pending the results of the Midland-Howard series which were not available at press time. The Broncos are now 12-10 in conference play, tied with Odessa and one game ahead of Amarillo.
