Childers is entering his 33rd year of coaching and second at NMMI.
Coach Chilly has worked at all levels of professional, college and high school football. In his hometown of Ennis, TX, he coached eventual Texas Tech legend and Super Bowl Champion Graham Harrell, winning multiple state titles.
Chilly coached the defensive line and special teams at Cisco College, helping lead the Wranglers to their first undefeated season and SWJCFC championship in school history in spring 2021. He also served as strength coach.
Chilly played college ball at Tarleton State University, where he began his coaching career while earning his master’s degree. He was inducted into the school’s hall of fame in 2022 along with the rest of his 1986 Sunflower Bowl-winning teammates.
Chilly has coached numerous All-Conference players, All-Americans and Division-I signees.
