Ramos top Colt finisher at State

The Colt and Lady Colt swimmers competed at the NMAA State Swim and Dive Meet in Albuquerque over the weekend.

The Colts qualifying team, consisting of senior Marco Ramos, senior Lorenzo Cepeda, senior Charles Perry, junior Jonah Pinon and junior Partap Khalsa, finished 13th out of 27 teams with 61 points.

Ramos was the top individual performers for the Colts, finishing sixth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 54.79 seconds and 13th in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:05.10.

The lone Lady Colt swimmer, junior Mary Olvera, finished 13th in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.70s.

Cepeda put up a time of 22.81 in the 50-yard freestyle, good enough for an eighth-place finish and he took 14th in the 100-yard breaststroke.

The boys relay team consisting of Ramos, Cepeda, Khalsa and Pinon finished eighth in the 200-yard freestyle and 12th in the 200-yard medley, where they improved their best time by 3.89s.
