The Broncos held their own against a stacked field to finish fifth at the Tanglogix/Tall City Exploration Collegiate golf tournament at the Ranchland Hills Golf Course in Midland, TX on Wednesday.
The three-round tourney featured several national top-10 teams, including the three highest ranked squads in the nation, No. 1 Odessa, No. 2 Midland and No. 3 NMJC, who finished in that order. Ranger College, the only team present not featured in the NJCAA national rankings, finished fourth.
No. 12 NMMI finished ahead of No. 7 McLennan, No. 9 Western Texas, No. 13 Weatherford, No. 22 Garden City and No. 39 North Central Texas.
Sophomore Jackson Hicks shot 2-under par in the opening round, then finished 1-above par in the final two rounds for an even finish.
Phalatphon "Putter" Viboonviriyasakul was 3-under in the first round, even in the second and wrapped up with a 3-over par Wednesday to also finish even and tied with Hicks for ninth. Putter is currently the sixth-ranked individual in NJCAA Division 1 golf, with Hicks coming in at 17.

The Broncos have a weekend off before heading to Wichita Falls, TX on March 24 for the Midwestern State Invitational.
