The Broncos dropped their final home game of the season 83-71 to the visiting Midland College Chaparrals Thursday night at Cahoon Armory, battling from behind for most of the contest and cutting the lead to four midway through the second half before the Chaps pulled away late.

Freshman forward/center Yanis Ndjonga led NMMI with 13 points and nine rebounds, freshman guard Aaron Williams Jr. also scored 10 and hit 4-of-6 from the free-throw line, and freshman point guard Lucas Henderson and freshman forward Quentin Bolton added 10 each.

The Broncos briefly held a three-point advantage early in the first half, but the Chaps quickly took back the lead and never relinquished it again. Down 11 in the second half with 15 minutes remaining, the Broncos went on their own run of seven straight to cut the lead to four, but turnovers and missed 3s doomed the Institute down the stretch.

Just two games remain in a rebuilding season that has seen the Broncos win just one WJCAC contest. The Broncos travel to Hobbs on Saturday to play the Thunderbirds in a game that was originally scheduled for this past Monday. They'll close out the season in Snyder, Texas on Monday against the Westerners at 6:30 p.m. CST.
