The New Mexico Military Institute Bronco volleyball team moved to 31-3 overall and 9-1 in conference, downing Frank Phillips College in straight sets at home: 25-10, 25-17, 25-19.

The nationally-ranked Broncos, who currently sit tied at No. 8 with conference opponent Odessa College, were led in kills by freshman middle Alyssa Lukasik and sophomore opposite-side hitter Gabriela Langi with 10 kills each.

NMMI had nine aces during the match, headed-up with four by sophomore outside hitter Violeta Mendoza Quintana.

On the defensive side, Hula Crisostomo topped the Institute squad with 20 digs. Vittoria Price was in best for the Broncos in blocks with five.

"I though we played well tonight, top to bottom," said head Bronco volleyball coach Shelby Forchtner. "We blocked well and we minimized our mistakes. We have been error prone lately and I felt we controlled that really well today."

Forchtner and her Broncos have two matches remaining in the regular season, both against Western Junior College Conference opponents. Their next match will be on Wednesday, Oct. 30th at 6:00 PM MDT against Clarendon College in NMMI's Cahoon Armory gym, then a final road-match in Snyder, TX against Clarendon College on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 2:00 PM CDT.
