The New Mexico Military Institute Lady Colt basketball team defeated the Hagerman Lady Bobcats 62-45 on Friday in Godfrey Athletic Center. In the second half the Bobcats found the three point shot and took a 16-15 lead during the quarter, but NMMI’s transition offense would give them back the lead 30-23 before the Bobcats called a timeout with a minute left in the second quarter. The Lady Colts would add another basket before half to give them a 32-23 at the half.

Hagerman started the second half on an 8-2 run that lasted until 5:15 in the third quarter to narrow the gap 34-31 in favor of NMMI. The rest of the quarter would be a back and forth battle as the Lady Colts would hold a 43-39 lead after the third quarter.

The Lady Colts broke open the game in the fourth quarter as they went on a 15-0 run during the last two minutes of the quarter to give NMMI the 62-45 victory.

Demitra Ulibarri led the Lady Colts with 25 points on the night and 14 rebounds to give her a double-double. Tianna Tsosie had 16 points and Miranda Garcia collected 11 points.

Head Lady Colt Basketball Coach Marisha Olesinski was all smiles after the game.

Olesinski said, “It was or fourth game this week and we improved on everything tonight. The girls gave their all and it really showed in the turnover department. We turned the ball over fewer times this game than any game this season.”
