The Colt Tennis team finished the individual portion of the NMAA State Tennis Championships on Thursday evening at the Jerry Cline Tennis Center in Albuquerque, NM.

Earlier in the morning, Farid Yunes took on Hope Christian's Adomas Skauda in the semi-finals of the class A-AAAA singles tournament. Skauda defeated Yunes 6-3 and 6-2 to send Yunes to the third-place match against defending state champion Neil Katz.

For some reason, Katz did not show up to the third-place match, which gave Yunes the bronze medal.

in the doubles portion of the tournament, NMMI had two teams in the semi-finals, Allen DeGroot/Francisco Saracho and John McIntyre/Luis Gonzalez.

Unfortunately, both teams were defeated by their counterpart setting up an all Institute matchup for third place.

McIntyreGonzalez took set one  5-7, but the state championship experience for DeGroot/Saracho proved too much as they won the next two sets 7-5 and 6-4.

Up next for the Colts will be the team portion of the NMAA State Championships. Top-seeded NMMI takes on #8 ranked St. Michaels at 1:30 pm tomorrow at Albuquerque Academy.
