The New Mexico Military Institute Colt soccer team defeated the Ruidoso Warriors 8-0 at NMMI Stapp Parade Field on Thursday night to move to 13-1-1 on the season.

In the first half, the Colts netted six goals - including a hat trick from Pedro Velez who led NMMI with three goals on the night. The Colts would score two more goals in the second half to give them the 8-0 win.

“I’m happy with our players, they played a great game today top to bottom,” said head Colt soccer coach John Barbour.

Next up for the Colts is a district match up against East Mountain High School. The Colts defeated East Mountain 2-1 in their first contest at EMHS.

“You don’t know what you are going to get from East Mountain,” continued coach Barbour. “Sometimes they can be tricky, but most of the time they are straight forward. We gave some people a rest tonight to be ready for that game. We can’t look past the Timberwolves or anyone. We are taking this one game at a time. We are going to come out and hopefully get a win against them and keep moving through district.”
