The NMMI volleyball team had a first-round bye at the Region V West Conference Tournament and having the extra time off benefited the Broncos.

NMMI defeated Western Texas College 25-19, 25-12 and 25-23 to advance to the championship game.

Coach Shelby Forchtner said, "Kim, Megan, and McKayla played really well for us, but everyone else struggled offensively. We still did a good job blocking and that allowed us to put some balls down of their side of the floor. "

The Broncos will take on the winner of Midland College/Odessa College at 3:00 PM CDT.
