Clarendon, TX –The NMMI Bronco volleyball team opened up conference play at Clarendon College and swept the Bulldogs in three sets 25-21, 25-17 and 25-17.

NMMI dominated the match from start to finish thanks to stellar offensive play by sophomore Hannah Davis, who had seven kills and an attacking percentage of .333.

NMMI was able to play almost the entire bench and the second tier players stepped up tremendously.

Coach Shelby Forchtner said, "We have been trying to get some people into games, but there have been a few times that we should have been able to allow some of those people to get experience. We couldn't really do it because we weren't playing at a high level. Tonight it was nice to get those kids in some matches and have them earn game experience."

Forchtner was really pleased with the team's effort as their play did not falter.

"We like it when it is seamless, where we can put them in and not see any real change on the floor. In practice, our second tier kids are doing a really good job for us and we want them to get in and allow them to get valuable conference play experience, "said Forchtner.

The Broncos are traveling to Odessa College this weekend for a tournament and will be guaranteed four games.

NMMI starts off play Friday morning at 9:00 MDT against Blinn College and will wrap up play for the day against Eastfield College at 1:00 PM MDT.

According to Forchtner: "We will be playing a few really good teams over there and I think the competition will be good for us. Hopefully, we will be able to take down some big teams there because as some of them will be some nationally ranked."

For the final day of play, the Broncos will take on Temple College Saturday at 8:00 AM MDT and then will face off against Barton College at 1:00 PM MDT.
