Bronco tennis player Linda Eloundou recently signed a letter of intent to play for Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan where she will begin her Division-I tennis career in 2023.

Linda and twin sister Manuella Eloundou arrived at NMMI from their home country of Cameroon in the spring of 2021. The Broncos finished 17th at nationals that year, where the twins defeated the eighth-seeded doubles team. In singles play, Linda took on the eventual third-place finisher in the consolation final.

Last season, Linda finished as the No. 32 JUCO DI player in the nation. Her sister was close behind at No. 37.

Linda said she’s excited to get to Ypsilanti and begin the next stage in her athletic and academic career.

“Playing DI has always been a dream for me and my sister,” she said. “I had a lot of offers, but decided on Eastern Michigan because they are in a strong conference with good competition. I’m looking forward to tough matches and competing at my highest level. I think I’m ready.”

Linda said she would have liked to play in more matches during her time at NMMI, but the pandemic changed those plans. Still, she is grateful for her time as a cadet and a Bronco athlete.

“NMMI is really special to me,” she said. “The experience with school was really good. It took time to get used to the U.S. system, but semester by semester it got better. I’m working toward a 3.5 GPA or better this semester.”

Manuella, who will also be signing with a DI program soon, said she’s very proud of her sister and while they are sure they will miss each other, they look forward to taking different paths in life for the first time.

“We’ve always been together,” said Manuella. “It’s the first time we’ll be separated, but we are excited about it. It will be good for us to experience different things. And we will get to play each other. I know she will be great.”
