The New Mexico Military Institute Lady Colt Basketball team fell to Gateway Christian 46-30 at Gateway Christian High School on Thursday night.

The Lady Warriors started on a 10-4 run to give them and early lead, but the Lady Colts answered back with a 10-5 run of their own to finish the first quarter trailing the Lady Warriors 15-14.

The Lady Warriors once again had the first part of the quarter advantage over the Lady Colts. Gateway Christian went on a 9-0 run that was answered back by a 5-0 run by NMMI for a Lady Warrior 24-19 lead at halftime.

After halftime the Lady Warriors would take control of the game and score 16 points in the quarter for a 40-23 lead.

NMMI would collect more points than Gateway Christian in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough as Gateway Christian ended up with the 46-30 victory.

Head Lady Colt Basketball coach Marisha Olesinski overall was pleased with her team’s effort.

Olesinski said, “Besides our shooting the girls played really well tonight. We could not get a basket to go down and I think that was the biggest factor tonight. I cannot say how proud I am of them. They did not give up all night. We had second and third opportunities to get baskets to go in, because the girls were getting offensive rebounds.”

The next game for the Lady Colts will be tomorrow (Friday) at 5 PM as they face the Hagerman Lady Bobcats at Godfrey Athletic Center.
