The Colt tennis team took on St. Michael’s in the quarterfinal round of the NMAA team championships and defeated the Horsemen 8-1.
The Colts started off hot as Francisco Saracho and Luis Fontes defeated their opponents in less than 45 minutes to give the Institute an early 2-0 lead.
Farid Yunes, John McIntyre, and Allen DeGroot finished their matches fairly quickly and to secure the victory for NMMI.
The only loss the Colts suffered was in the #1 doubles. "We had already won the match,” said head coach John Barbour. “We wanted to rest our players so they could be fresh for the semifinals.”
The Colts take on the winner of Bosque and Santa Fe Prep at 9:30 AM at Albuquerque Academy.
