Colt Tennis swept the Robertson Cardinals Saturday at the NMMI tennis courts, winning all four singles matches and both doubles contests, while the young Lady Colts didn't win a match, but continued to gain valuable experience.

The Colts' top player, sophomore Fernando Mier y Concha faced a game competitor in Robertson's Theodore Williamson. Mier took the first set 6-3, but Williamson returned the favor in the second set with his own 6-3 win. In the deciding third set played to 10 points, Mier took control and allowed just four points.

The rest of the Colts picked up relatively easy wins. No. 2 junior Santiago Perez defeated Micah Vigil 6-2, 6-1. No. 3 sophomore Mason Hicks downed Azuriah Glenn 6-0, 6-1. No. 4 senior Nicholas VanLue dropped Michael Martinez y Marr 6-0, 6-0.

NMMI's No. 1 doubles team of Mier and senior Jose Nadal took down Williamson and Vigil 8-3 and the No. 2 team of Perez and Hicks ran through Glenn and Martinez 8-0.

The Lady Colts managed to snag a game here and there, with No. 1 senior Olive Amechi taking a game in the second set from Robertson's Gabriela Fulgenzi. No. 2 junior Amelia Hull took a first-set game and two second-set games from Ashley Vigil and No. 4 freshman Ezabelle Gomez took a game from Marianna Armijo in their first set.

The Colts and Lady Colts will participate in the Goddard Invite at the end of the month.
