The New Mexico Military Institute Bronco basketball team fell to conference foe Odessa College 82-71 in the Cahoon Armory Gym on Thursday night.

The first half was a back and forth battle between both teams. The largest lead was by NMMI with a 6 point lead at the 10:33 mark in the first half. Odessa came back and took a four point lead with under a minute to go, but the Broncos went on a 5-0 run to end the half up 39-38.

In the second half Odessa took control out of the gate going on a 18-5 run through the first eight minutes of play. After the early run NMMI out played the Wranglers, but could not overcome the early deficit.

"We had about a four minute spurt where we kind of quit playing and they got up on us," said head Bronco basketball coach Sean Schooley. "But what I liked about this game is that we battled back. We didn't quit playing and gave ourselves a chance to stay in the game."

Isaiah Francis led the Broncos with 26 points on the night. He added four rebounds and two steals. Jermane Carter had 17 points along with seven rebounds, three blocks, and a steal. Anthony Mensah collected 13 points.

The Bronco's next game will be at South Plains College on February 11. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 CST.
