Broncos fall to Plainsmen

The New Mexico Military Institute Broncos fell to conference foe Frank Phillips College 93-79 in Cahoon Armory Gym on Thursday.

After Frank Phillips started the scoring NMMI got two straight baskets to take a 4-2 lead. The Broncos would tie the game 7-7 then 9-9 before the Plainsmen went on an 11-3 run in the first half to make the score 22-13 before an NMMI timeout. After the time out the Broncos would cut the Plainsmen lead to three (38-35) with a minute left in the first half, but the Plainsmen would end the half on an 8-0 run to go in to the locker room up 46-35 at the half.

The second half was a back and forth contest between both teams. The biggest run was by NMMI with a 7-0 streak to cut a 68-53 deficit to a 68-60 Plainsmen lead. The Plainsmen would go on to slowly widen the game and take the 93-79 victory.

Isaiah Francis led the way for NMMI with 27 points. Kaleb Hicks had 15 points and Jermane Carter had 11. Keith Deloatch led the Broncos in assists with eight and in steals with five. The rebound leader for NMMI was Zeontay Anthony with seven.

NMMI's next home game will be at home against Howard College on Monday, January 21st at 6:30 PM.
