The Colt varsity basketball team (3-12) started the week off right by defeating Loving (6-6) 56-31 in the Godfrey Athletic Center on the campus of NMMI Monday evening.
In the second district 4-4A match-up for both teams, NMMI’s combination of low percentage shooting and too many turnovers allowed the visiting Hope Christian Huskies to walk away with a 57-25 win
An improving Colt basketball team dropped their first district contest at home to Ruidoso, 48-40.
The game versus the Warriors was closer than many might expect, considering the difference in overall records between the two clubs: Ruidoso came in with an 11-5 mark, compared to the Colts’ 2-7 count.
The Colt varsity basketball team [2-5] picked up their first win of the new year and their second ‘W’ on the season, downing Tularosa [7-6] in Friday’s first round of the Dexter Invitational, 38-32.
A familiar face is taking over the helm of the Colt basketball team this season, and, combined with some promising young players, the team could get back in the thick of things in one of the toughest districts in the state.
