Colt football loses a tough one

The NMMI Colt football team took on the Santa Rosa Lions on a beautiful evening in Roswell on Friday and lost 28-0.

Coach Randy Montoya said, “We had opportunities to score, but somehow we either lose the ball, have a bad snap. Turnovers have been our Achilles Heel offensively and we need to protect the ball more.”

Although the Colts had four turnovers on offense, the defense played well against a difficult offense.

“Once we settled down after the first two series, we played well and had our chances. I am proud of our defense, they played really hard and Santa Rosa has a tough offense to prepare for,” said Montoya.

The Colts will face another tough offense as they travel to Hot Springs next Friday.

Hot Springs is another offense that is difficult to prepare for; our defense will have their hands full, said Montoya.

Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM in Truth or Consequences.
