Brad Blackwell enters his second season as the Colt Baseball head coach in 2024.

Blackwell graduated from Goddard High School in 2013. He was named first-team all-district and all-state and played in the North/South All-Star Game as a senior. Held state stolen base record with 30 in 27 games.

He was a two-year starter at shortstop and left field for Chris Cook's NMMI Broncos from 2013-2015 and graduated with an Associate of Arts degree. He went on to start for two years under coach Shannon Hunt at New Mexico Highlands University and graduated in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science.

He began his teaching and coaching career in 2020 at Roswell High and became the Colts head coach in 2022. During his first season at the helm, the Colts won the Colt Classic tournament for the first time since 2015 and won the Hal Bogle tourney in Dexter. The Colts earned the No. 2 seed in the Class 3A state playoffs and finished with a record of 21-5.

Blackwell has also been a Colt Football asssitant coach since 2022, helping lead the Colts to two playoff berths so far.

Blackwell is proud of his supportive family: his wife Patricia and children Irah, Elle, Astyn and new baby girl Blair, born October 2023. Blackwell has two sisters, Brittany and Bailey, and his parents are Barry and Risa.
